Go Figure...

I finally got back into this thing and I haven't done the readings yet, so I have nothing to talk about. My daughter suggests that I talk about her, yet I find myself strangely reluctant to discuss her insanity in such a public venue. I've just been threatened...If I don't show up for class, look closely at Cait...

Turtles, huh?

Who is this guy kidding?! It would be easier to learn to write with my toes before I did my homework. This is a classic example of somebody being totally unrealistic about what others may want to experience. There is a very good reason that this whole idea has hit the skids; I do not feel that it is necessary to expand on this thought.

Inquiry based approach to history

I love this idea! How can we get students to actually interact with history, instead of just vomiting it out on a multiple guess test? I am working on a webpage for my library that will somehow implement some of the ideas from the Bass paper in an effort to provide historical information about Michigan for 4th graders.

Jasper the friendly host

I was really excited about Jasper. I related it to a "game" on www.edheads.com where kids are CSI agents and need to solve a car accident mystery. They wind up forming subsets of questions that eventually they put together to solve the mystery. They also receive character enhancing education in that they hear about the effects of drinking and driving.
I questioned why Jasper had not been carried forward to a new format. It seems that all of that work was wasted now.
I also questioned how the creators of this program would keep it timely and interesting for rapidly maturing audiences.
I wish we could see it in action...

Arrrghhh!!!

Committing Hari-Kari would have been less painful than trying to get back into this thing!
